AI agent development services for production workflows.

Build agents that can use the right records and take bounded actions inside your business systems. Define quality, access and operating ownership before go-live.

An agent needs a bounded job

AI agent development services connect a model to the information and actions required for a defined business task. The difficult part is deciding what it may do, what information it can use, and when a person must take over.

Utenx brings agents into the wider business system. The existing AI practice covers model routing, quality checks and cost tracking, alongside sales, finance, reporting and access integrations. We scope an agent around an operational outcome instead of promising an autonomous replacement for an entire team.

Choose an agent only where it adds value

A deterministic workflow is often appropriate when the input, rule and next step are predictable. An agent can help interpret varied requests or decide among permitted actions, but that flexibility creates evaluation and exception-handling work.

For example, interpreting a varied customer request and identifying the right account may benefit from a model. Posting an already approved record to a destination can remain a deterministic step. Mixing the two approaches lets the team place judgment where it is useful and keep repeatable updates predictable.

Define the build before choosing a model

  • Task boundary: what starts the agent and what counts as a completed job.
  • Context: records and knowledge it may retrieve, with the correct access scope.
  • Actions: the tools it may call and the approval needed before a consequential change.
  • Quality: representative examples and the conditions for failure or human review.
  • Operations: visibility into actions, model usage and unsuccessful steps.
  • Ownership: accounts, source, configuration and a runbook your team receives.

Evaluate the workflow, not a polished demo

Agree examples that represent the actual inputs and exceptions the team expects. Evaluate whether the agent found the appropriate context, proposed an acceptable action and stayed inside its permissions. A convincing answer can still be an incorrect business update.

The useful output is an explicit acceptance decision: which situations the system handles, which it escalates, and which are outside scope. Model or prompt changes should be checked against the same examples. This is a proposed delivery discipline, not a claimed benchmark score or a guarantee of perfect accuracy.

Bring the existing systems into the design

The agent must connect to sales, operations or support records that have owners and access policies. Missing data or conflicting sources should be treated as a workflow problem, not hidden behind a stronger prompt. The integration architecture determines where the work is recorded and how an operator can investigate an exception.

Scope and handoff

Start with a paid Map engagement when the scope is unclear. The current engagement model lists a one-week Map at $8k, fixed-scope builds at $45k–$120k over six to ten weeks, and an optional $12k/month retainer. The actual delivery date, third-party costs, currency and commercial terms are confirmed in the project proposal. See the engagement options.

Your team owns the delivered source and customer-controlled accounts. Identify third-party licensing, model usage costs, quality checks and support choices in the proposal. If a rule-based workflow is enough, the scoping call should establish that before an agent build is commissioned.

Frequently asked questions

Can an agent replace our existing tools? The first question is whether replacement is useful. We begin with the tools and records you have and connect the agent where it solves a defined task.

How is this different from a chatbot? A chatbot may answer a question. An agent workflow may retrieve business context and take permitted actions. Those actions need access controls, evaluation and an operating path.

Can you guarantee every answer? Acceptance is based on the agreed task, examples and escalation rules. Scope the consequences of an incorrect output before deciding where an agent may act without review.
